So I sent Jed a quick note this past week ... the subject was even titled "very quick note". Guess that's why I got nothing from Jed this week. A scripture in the King James Bible comes to mind https://www.lds.org/scriptures/nt/2-cor/9.6?lang=eng#5 which says, "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully." I will do better this week.
All is not lost however; I did receive a letter from his mission president, President Jordan. President Jordan was (just like Jed) called by the Prophet to serve for a short period of time. He said " ... we [he and his wife] are pleased to let you know that your son, Elder Jed Alan Murri has arrived in the England London Mission. He seems very happy to be here and anxious to get to work ... We consider the physical, spiritual, and emotional well being of our missionaries to be our top priority and we do everything we can to make their time here a positive and faith promoting experience. Elder Murri is doing the work of the Lord and will be blessed by our Heavenly Father in countless ways for his selfless service... ". I am grateful that Jed's Mission President sent this. He also sent two photos, the first of Jed along side the President and his wife, the second of Jed and his new companion Elder Rodriguez.
Jed gave us a challenge. He said in his letter to his mom (notice she did get an email from Jed), "...There was a lesson we taught with a less active Englishwoman named Sylvia, and we watched the He is the Gift video (I've seen it so many times, but it never gets old) -- which I challenge you guys to watch and share with a less active family. It brings the Spirit into the home, and allows them to realize what they can do and what they need to do to change and become better. Anyway, we were teaching Sylvia, and the Spirit was so present. It was there, and I knew that she was feeling it. She was learning ..." Here is the link http://www.mormon.org/christmas?cid=HPFR112814529 . I will see what I can do to share this video.
