I asked Jed a few questions on my last email ... here are his responses:
Have you had a chance to look at the blog http://elderjedbydad.weebly.com/ ?
-- His response: "yes, I read your blog. Every week, in fact. :) I think that it's amazing, thank you for doing that for me and everyone else."
Have you had the chance to give any priesthood blessings?
-- His response: "I've given three priesthood blessings since I've been out. I gave one to my MTC companion, I gave one to Elder Rodriguez, and I gave one to a lady named Julie yesterday. It's really, really cool to let the Spirit tell you what to say. I don't know what I'm going to say before I give blessings, but I know that Heavenly Father does, and so He puts those words into my mouth. You just say a prayer before, and then hope and trust that the right things will come out. And they do!"
Do you walk around Enfiled, drive a car, take the bus or?
-- His response: "I take the bus and the train EVERYWHERE. I can actually count on one hand the amount of times that I've been in someone's car in Enfield."
Do you knock on doors, contact on a street corner, or go to referrals most?
--His responMost of the people that we teach we find either on the street or by knocking on their doors. We actually found a nice lady that likes Donny Osmond the other day, and she's a new investigator! Her name is Terry." se: "
In my email I shared an experience about praying to Heavenly Father and then going without food and water (fasting) for a friend and his wife Jitesh and Namrata, and then seeing the great outpouring blessings they received ...
--Jed's response: "That sounds like a great experience. I also fasted this past Sunday (yesterday) for a couple of investigators that we have. One of them (his name is Jonathan, he's ten, and he's from Serbia - and yes, I can say hello and a couple of other things in Serbian) backed out on his baptismal date, and his brother Martin, who we're also teaching, said that he didn't want to be taught any more. He doesn't want to quit smoking, but he's 14 years old, and I think that he's just scared. I want to be able to help him have the Light of Christ in his life, so that he can feel that baptism is the right thing to do. Anyway, we fasted for them to receive an answer that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and we fasted for them to keep their commitments. And I don't know what happened yet, because we haven't seen them, but what I did learn is that the ATTITUDE in which you fast matters. Fasting does work. And when you do it with and in faith (just as you did), miracles will happen. They will -- that's a natural consequence of using and acting on faith. But if you're focusing on yourself when you fast, or doing it resentfully, then not much will happen, because you aren't focusing on what you're fasting FOR. That's what I learned, and I also learned from your experience, so thank you. :) I'm glad that you had such an amazing experience and that your testimony is stronger because of it. Tell them that I wish them well. "
I feel happy to hear of Elder Murri's experiences, I love him.
