I asked Jed a series of questions and he answered them.
I post them here:
1. how big is the ward (s?) in King's Lynn? the ward in King's Lynn has about 80 people that come pretty consistently
2. how many wards (stakes) are in your area, district and zone? We only go to one ward, but there are a set of sisters in Thetford that cover two, and they're both American Airbases. Thetford has around 100, and Mildenhall has a little less
3. how many elders and sisters are in your district? In the district, there are 5 sisters and Elder Stoor and I. So we're the only Elders. But they're all so good! The Sisters in King's Lynn are named Sister Perera (from the Canary Islamds, which are part of Spain), Sister Epicoco (from a little town in southern Italy), and Sister Vizaco (from Brazil, but lived in the U.S. for 4 years, and who actually went to LDSBC right by West High). The sisters in Thetford are Sister Quinn (from Chandler, Arizona), and Sister Mekonnen (from Ethiopia). So it's a really diverse district! Elder Stoor is from Soda Springs, Idaho, and you all know where I'm from. We're in the Norwich Stake (my zone), and there are 7 wards in the stake
4. how old is your bishop / branch president? The bishop, who is going on a mission to the London Temple, is 60 something
5. what did you have for breakfast today? Today for breakfast, I had a protein shake, an orange, some water, and 3 pieces of bread. The bread I ate after companion study
6. how do you get around in King's Lynn (walk, bike, bus, train, car)? We walk around in King's Lynn and take the busses. Or have someone drive us. We can call taxis as well, but they're way expensive
7. do you still have the trousers that you duct taped together (or did you toss them in the rubbish)? I do have the trousers, yes. :) I want to send them home, along with some other things, but we've been crunched for time
8. when was your last haircut, and who did it? I had a haircut a couple of weeks ago by some barbers on the high street. His name is Ollie, he's pretty good. The place is called Mckenzies, there's TONS of barbers in England. They're all over the place
9 what is the 'most typical' pork and applesauce set up (how does it look on the plate when it is ready to eat)? Pork and applesauce looks like a roast dinner, basically. There's roast potatoes, green beans, gravy, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, and then the pork and some Bramley applesauce on top. Delicious. :)
10. what is the age (approx) of the oldest and youngest persons you are teaching now? The youngest person, her name is Annie, she's 19, and she's getting baptised in a week and a half!! :) The oldest person
is a man called Larry. He's in his 50's
Elder Murri is able to do service for others, he says: "We met a small family a couple of weeks ago, and we just painted their house for them, and they told us that they'd have to have us over for dinner this next week! He was in the military, and he went out to [Tooele] to train with the U.S. Military, so he's been to Utah. Him and his wife are really cool. He calls me "Elderberry" because that's what my name sounds like. Haha :) He's so nice and kind, and so is his wife, and the Gospel is what they're looking for. It's so cool to talk to them!".
This past week we spent time visiting the Grand Canyon. It truly is an amazing sight. Although pictures cannot due something like that justice, I sent one to Elder Murri of his Mom and I overlooking that massive canyon. He told me, "So, I'm downloading the picture now, so I haven't seen it, but it sounds super majestic, and I think that's awesome. One of my favourite things about English scenery is that in the morning hours, if you're taking a bus and it's wet outside, there's white mist that hovers over the ground and the hills, and it's so gorgeous! It's like that right now actually! The green and the white and the grey are so cool! ".
We (God's actual spiritual offspring) have been given so many wonderful things. Elder Murri said it best this way, "The perspective that the Gospel brings is priceless, that's why it's so important to share!"
Priceless
